The United Alex Valentino pedals have a classic design but use modern technology. These are a nice slim low profile shape made with a Nylon/Fiberglass blended material to be stronger then just traditional Nylon pedals. They also have a heat treated chromo axle for superior axle strength. With the fine micro knurling and hexagonal pins these pedals offer excellent gripping for all riding aspects. A pair of these pedals weighs only 12.8 ounces, and come in 9/16 only.
For the rider just getting into the sport who is looking to make a smaller upfront investment, the Octave makes the true BMX feel attainable with features like a top load stem, 25-9 gearing and added clearance on the frame, fork and brake for wider tires. The fully sealed rear cassette and 3 piece cranks add durability to the bike and the 20-inch top tube, 8.0-inch bars and 170mm cranks, give it a nice compact feel. The unsealed headset, American bottom bracket and value components mean this bike will need more care, regular maintenance and investment in replacement parts to keep it running smoothly. The first 2016 Island Cup cross country race is on March 13th on the Hammerfest Trails. Registration and start will be in Englishman River Falls Park parking lot. With registration opening at 10am for a 12pm start.

Cost is $30.00 plus $10.00 one day license if you are not a Cycling BC member.

The 2016 Vancouver Island Cup Mountain Bike Race Series, is BC’s premiere grassroots race series spanning the length of Vancouver Island. Cross Country, Downhill, Enduro and Marathon disciplines are brought together from numerous local mountain bike clubs.
Lightweight, long range ebike with hydraulic disc brakes and 27 speed Shimano drivetrain. Perfect for commuting, errand running, or just getting around.
Initial impression is that this is a very quick, comfortable easy to ride bike. And it is. At 47.5 pounds it is lighter that most other ebikes too.
The bike itself features a Shimano 27 speed drivetrain with a Deore rear derailleur and Acera rapidfire shifters. The crankset is 28/38/48 teeth which makes for good speed and efficiency. A bonus is the pant guard to keep your trousers clean on the way to work.
In addition to the regenerative braking that the Bionx system provides the HB1 is equipped with Tektro Hydraulic brakes for excellent stopping power.
The alloy wheels are double walled for strength and have Schwable Marathon Green Guard (flat prevention) tires with reflective sidewalls.
The HB1 also has a built-in mount for the ebike kickstand that is included.
The HB1 comes equipped with the 2016 Bionx 500w 48v D series kit. Assist levels are 35, 75, 150, and 300% of the power that the load sensor senses that you are putting into the pedals.

A fun, scenic ride around Victoria and the Saanich Peninsula put on by the BC Randonneurs cycling club. Choose either the 50k or 100k route and enjoy post-ride refreshments and draw prizes
The Victoria Populaire (VicPop) is a fun ride, not a race. The routes all make their way to ‘control stops’ where riders must have their control cards stamped and signed by a ride official. At the end of the ride, riders turn in their control cards and are awarded a finisher’s pin.
Participation is capped at 200 cyclists.
